To understand number porting is to first understand the basics of number portability. Number porting or Local number portability (LNP) is the process in which a fixed local lines/numbers, and/or full mobile number portability (FMNP) for mobile phone lines/numbers, gives the ability of a “customer” of an existing fixed-line or mobile telephone number issued by a local exchange carrier (LEC) or original carrier to reassign the number to another carrier/service provider, or move it to another location geographically, or change the type of service altogether. Limitations do exist with transferability with regards to geography, service area coverage, and technology.
Here at STL Communication, we strive to make this process as easy as possible. We offer this service when on-boarding new clients/customers so they can retain their number presence in their advertising space, so to the end-user it appears as business as usual. When supplied the proper documentation and coordination with our team, this process can be rather quick and painless.
