The STLCOM race car is new and improved for the 2021 season! SCCA has eliminated the Improved Touring Extreme (ITE) class that Steve Leidholdt has won the past three years in a row in the Midwest Division driving the 1967 Mustang.
The new STLCOM race car will compete in the GT2 class, but is also Trans Am legal. It is a Howe tube frame chassis with a Five Star Mustang composite body and a Byron Kourey aluminum block 351 engine.
“There is a whole new level of skill and competition required to be competitive in the GT2 class. After completing two SCCA Majors events I am starting to get a better feel for the car; I feel more comfortable and get faster in it each time I’m on the track,” said Leidholdt.
Look for the STLCOM Mustang at WWT raceway Majors event in St Louis July 19th and 20th (sponsored by STLCOM) and other SCCA events in the coming months. Steve also added, “If all goes well, I plan to run at the SCCA runoffs to be held at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway in September; that will be the thrill of a lifetime!”
